Open call - Deadline May, 6th - -

Call for entries Tabò Prize

The Cultural Associations OFFICINE FOTOGRAFICHE ROMA and CONTROCHIAVE present the 10thEdition of the Prize Giovanni Tabò.

Established in 2009, this award is dedicated to the memory of the passionate photographer and organizer of FotoLeggendo, who died prematurely at the age of 44.

The contest, with no distinction between amateurs and professionals, is reserved for those under 44 years of age (born after January 1st, 1974).

To participate in the selection, just send to Officine Fotografiche Roma via WeTransfer a photographic portfolio, consisting of a maximum of 15 low-resolution JPEG files (the long side of 1500 pixels). Authors can submit up to one portfolio.

The portfolio must be submitted by Sunday, May 6th, 2018.

All portfolios received on time, in compliance with the rules of the competition, will be screened by a selection jury who will choose two portfolios to be exhibited in June during FotoLeggendo Festival 2018. The two portfolios on show will be awarded first and second prizes by portfolio reviewers of FotoLeggendo. The award ceremony will be held on Sunday, June 10th, 2018, during the festival opening days. Further details on the FotoLeggendo program and the award will be announced on the event website www.fotoleggendo.it.

We strongly advise all participants to pay special attention to Rules, as failure to comply will result in exclusion from the competition. To this end, we anticipate what follows:

– The regulation requires the sending of low-resolution images, in JPEG format (long side approximately equal to 1500 pixels) exclusively via WeTransfer at premiotabo@fotoleggendo.it

– The images must be distinguished by a number corresponding to the place of the image in a sequential reading of the Portfolio (01.jpeg, 02.jpeg, …) and inserted in a folder marked only by the work title. A written supplement to the portfolio, named by the work title only, is not required, but recommended, as it may be useful to the Selection Committee during the examination. It is mandatory to send a short biography of the author, or authors in the case of groups. Do not send other materials such as movies, music videos, catalogs drafts, etc.

– It’s mandatory to send the scanning of the signed participation form, as acceptance of the rules and processing of personal data, properly compiled; the scanning of an identification document stating the age of the applicant (of all applicants in the case of groups).

Photojournalism Award
Call For Entries - Submission from March 15th to May 15th -

IlReportage Photojournalism Award

curated by Il Reportage, Officine Fotografiche and Leica Camera Italia

Il Reportage, the quarterly literary, journalism and photography review, in collaboration with Officine Fotografiche Roma and Leica Camera Italia, is pleased to announce the first edition of Il Reportage Photojournalism Award 2016, an international documentary photography competition. The theme of this first edition is “Borders”. With this theme, we want to refer to an idea of a border that, starting from the geopolitical concept of the term, transcends it and arrives at exploring its meaning in all its nuances. In this regard, the words of the philosopher Zygmunt Bauman are enlightening:

“Boundaries are drawn to create differences, differences between one place and the rest of space, between one stretch of time and the rest of time, between one category of human creature and the rest of humanity. […] In our fast-globalising world borders become less and less effective […] they acquire more and more significance and tend to be over-saturated with meaning. […] Borders, either made of bricks and cement or just symbolic are sometimes battlefields but they are also creative labs of the art of living together. They are also soils in which  seeds of future forms of humanity are thrown and grow (consciously or not).”

The competition is open to all professional photographers and young talents, without anyrestriction in terms of nationality , who wish to present a selection of photographs (between 15 and 25) of a finished work that has been carried out in the past two years and that is related to the theme, interpretable either through stories that are focused on contemporary issues of great scope or on micro-social contexts of everyday life and situations that are given little space in traditional media.
