Overview
Perhaps the most intense concern of most photographers today has to do with “how” they will develop their personal voice in photography.
I believe that there are no easy answers. With photography, I depict poetic representations of my inner agonies. And that’s where I really focus.
In the poetic image.
But what does poetic photography really mean?
This is exactly what we depict in this workshop.
Based on my photographic work, my literature poetry work, my research in modern philosophy, existential psychology and the poets of Modernism, we will define the true poetic encounter in the art of photography.
During the workshop, I present all my works and books, share notes of my research and lecture in depth about the creative stages of the works (pictures, sound, concept, design).
Goals
-The three-day intensive photography workshop “The Poetic Encounter” is a workshop dedicated to highlight the unique morphology of our visual language and expression through photography, focusing on guiding participants to: “Pictures that are not related to any style, nor are limited to any category, but pictures that go beyond descriptions and work as poetic representations of the artist’s own existence.”
-Participants receive a comprehensive analysis and feedback on their work and learn how to develop their unique photographic practice based on poetic representations and modern philosophy. They also learn how to give shape into their work and develop photobook and exhibition implementations.
-On the last day of the workshop all participants will have the opportunity to present their work in a public event taking place in the venue.
Specifications
Participants should bring with them a project (or portfolio), finished or in-progress, a book or a book dummy which they develop at the given time. The purpose of this intensive educational experience is to fully explore an issue that really touches each participant and via thorough analysis to overcome any difficulties that prevent the development of the project.

Panoramica
Forse la preoccupazione più intensa della maggior parte dei fotografi di oggi riguarda il “come” sviluppare la propria voce personale nella fotografia.
Credo che non esistano risposte facili. Con la fotografia, ritraggo rappresentazioni poetiche delle mie agonie interiori. Ed è lì che mi concentro davvero.
Nell’immagine poetica.
Ma cosa significa veramente fotografia poetica?
Questo è esattamente ciò che rappresentiamo in questo workshop.
Sulla base del mio lavoro fotografico, del mio lavoro poetico letterario, della mia ricerca sulla filosofia moderna, sulla psicologia esistenziale e sui poeti del Modernismo, definiremo il vero incontro poetico nell’arte della fotografia.
Durante il workshop presenterò tutte le mie opere e i miei libri, condividerò gli appunti della mia ricerca e terrò una lezione approfondita sulle fasi creative delle opere (immagini, suono, concetto, design).
Obiettivi
-Il workshop intensivo di fotografia di tre giorni “The Poetic Encounter” è un workshop dedicato a mettere in luce la morfologia unica del nostro linguaggio visivo e dell’espressione attraverso la fotografia, concentrandosi sul guidare i partecipanti a: “Immagini che non sono legate a nessuno stile, né sono limitate a nessuna categoria, ma immagini che vanno oltre le descrizioni e funzionano come rappresentazioni poetiche dell’esistenza dell’artista stesso”.
-I partecipanti ricevono un’analisi completa e un feedback sul loro lavoro e imparano a sviluppare una pratica fotografica unica basata su rappresentazioni poetiche e filosofia moderna. Imparano inoltre a dare forma al loro lavoro e a sviluppare libri fotografici e mostre.
-L’ultimo giorno del workshop tutti i partecipanti avranno l’opportunità di presentare il proprio lavoro in un evento pubblico che si terrà nella sede.
Specifiche
I partecipanti dovranno portare con sé un progetto (o un portfolio), finito o in corso, un libro o un book dummy che svilupperanno in quel momento. Lo scopo di questa esperienza formativa intensiva è quello di esplorare a fondo un tema che tocca da vicino ogni partecipante e, attraverso un’analisi approfondita, superare le difficoltà che impediscono lo sviluppo del progetto.
-Tutti i fotografi o gli artisti che utilizzano i media possono iscriversi inviando un portfolio insieme alla domanda di partecipazione.
Born in northern Greece, Ilias started experimenting with the photographic medium at the age of 19.
After extensive travels in 2011, he stopped his university studies(in mathematics) and started making pictures in an obsessive way.
Ηis main interest focuses on what he prefers to name “poetic image-making” in the current context of social and interpersonal issues about the human condition. He follows this approach from 2012 and continues until now.
Ilias’ work has been shown in numerous solo and group shows across the world, international festivals in Europe, Asia and Australia and has been featured in catalogs, in-depth articles, interviews and other on-line and printed publications.
His prints are part of various private and public collections and his photobooks “Over.State”, “Vialattea” and “Forecast” are part of public/museum libraries (Getty Museum, The Columbia University of New York et al). He has won prestigious awards with his works and photobooks whilst the books were included in numerous best-of lists.
He conducts and curates the “Fortnight” mentoring programme as well as “The Poetic Encounter” workshop and other master classes in photography.
Recently, he published his first literature poetry book “Κρύπτες από δάφνη” in Greek. He also likes to write long essays about photography, literature and poetry in the media.
“Forecast” (First and Second edition) is his latest (third) photobook.
Since May 2023, he is the creative director of the publishing house Origini Edizioni.
Ilias Georgiadis
Nato nel nord della Grecia, Ilias ha iniziato a sperimentare il mezzo fotografico all’età di 19 anni.
Dopo aver viaggiato a lungo nel 2011, ha interrotto gli studi universitari (in matematica) e ha iniziato a fare fotografie in modo ossessivo.
Il suo interesse principale si concentra su ciò che preferisce chiamare “creazione di immagini poetiche” nell’attuale contesto di questioni sociali e interpersonali sulla condizione umana. Segue questo approccio dal 2012 e continua fino ad oggi.
Il lavoro di Ilias è stato esposto in numerose mostre personali e collettive in tutto il mondo, in festival internazionali in Europa, Asia e Australia ed è stato inserito in cataloghi, articoli di approfondimento, interviste e altre pubblicazioni online e cartacee.
Le sue stampe fanno parte di varie collezioni private e pubbliche e i suoi libri fotografici “Over.State”, “Vialattea” e “Forecast” fanno parte di biblioteche pubbliche/museali (Getty Museum e altri). Con le sue opere e i suoi fotolibri ha vinto prestigiosi premi, mentre i libri sono stati inseriti in numerose liste di best-of.
Conduce e cura il programma di mentoring “Fortnight”, il workshop “The Poetic Encounter” e altre masterclass di fotografia.
Recentemente ha pubblicato il suo primo libro di poesia letteraria “Κρύπτες από δάφνη” (Ο Μωβ Σκίουρος-2022) in greco. Ama anche scrivere lunghi saggi sulla fotografia, la letteratura e la poesia nei media.

Dal maggio 2023 è il direttore creativo della casa editrice Origini Edizioni.
