Scenes from an Island è la seconda monografia di Florence Montmare. Questa raccolta di fotografie e testi è stata realizzata tra il 2014 e il 2024, durante vari soggiorni presso la tenuta di Ingmar Bergman sull’isola svedese di Fårö.
Suddivisa in tre atti, la serie di Montmare esplora i temi del tempo, della caducità e della vulnerabilità dell’umanità e della natura, come si riflettono nella crisi climatica e nei conflitti globali. Sullo sfondo del suggestivo paesaggio dell’isola, fonte d’ispirazione e set cinematografico per Ingmar Bergman, gli isolani e i rifugiati diventano protagonisti di una riflessione fotografica sulle questioni esistenziali del nostro tempo.

Scenes from an Island
Divided into three acts and set against the dramatic island landscape, this body of work was created between 2014 and 2024, during various stays at the Ingmar Bergman Estate on the Swedish island of Fårö.
The series examines the vulnerability of humankind and nature — a photographic reflection on the existential issues of our time.
The recent monograph America Series will also be available for signing, in commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the United States.
